Our Story

Ryan Story:

Aviary-Photo-400pxRyan was born and raised a PK (pastor’s kid). He accepted Jesus at 4 years old on the roof of a church, while helping his dad do some work. God must have been preparing his heart at an early age to be a construction missionary!

Ryan went on his first missions trip to Guatemala at 14 and knew God was truly calling him to missions. After high school, Ryan began dating Laci and the rest is “our story”…

Laci Story:

Aviary Photo_130610123306876820Laci was born into a Christian home, accepted Jesus at 5 years old and has always loved being a part of church. She knew God had a special place for her in ministry as a young teenager.

As she got older, she felt that ministry was specifically in missions. She began dating Ryan in high school and the rest is “our story”…

Our Story:

Ryan’s family moved to Mont Belvieu, Texas, to pastor at Mont Belvieu Assembly of God, where Laci’s family attended (and interestingly, Laci’s grandfather pastored years before!) For Laci, at 12 years old, it was love at first sight…and she told her mom she was going to “marry Ryan Moore one day!”

A few years passed and Ryan took notice and he became Laci’s high school sweetheart! He proposed to Laci after her high school graduation (at her family graduation party.) They were engaged for 7 months and got married on December 12, 1998! At this point, they knew they God had called them both to be missionaries…specifically in the area of construction. But at the time, there was not a place to serve full time in that ministry. For the next 4 years, they served as the youth pastors at their church, while they were both finishing college.

Ryan graduated with his degree in Civil Engineering from Lamar University and Laci graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (early childhood education) from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. While Ryan was in college, the U.S. Navy presented a new program for Civil Engineering students and Ryan felt God was opening a door for the experience he would need for what God had ultimately called them to…construction missions. For the next 6 1/2 years, Ryan served in the Navy as a Civil Engineer Corp Officer.

During that time, Lynzi was born in 2005. About that time, Builders International was created…it was a ministry with the Assemblies of God that assisted other missionaries around the world with their large construction projects. Towards the end of his Navy career, they began the process to become missionaries with the Assemblies of God, to serve with Builders International.

Then Asher was born in 2008. They began serving at Builders International in February 2009. Ryan’s job as Director of Project Management was very similar to his job in the Navy! In 2011, Ryan was asked to serve as the Director of Builders International. They are thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord, where He has called them.
